Adam Bandt will move amendments to the Marriage Act in the House of Representatives as soon Parliament resumes. He will seek co-sponsors from Labor, the Coalition and the cross-bench for the private member's bill.
Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young will also move for a vote in the Senate.

State Parliament update:
The Victorian Greens motion on marriage equality was presented to the Victorian Legislative Council on Wednesday 23 November. The motion, being presented by the Victorian Greens GLBTI spokesperson Sue Pennicuik, uses similar words as the motion passed in the Tasmanian Lower House in September and in the ACT Legislative Assembly earlier this week.
The motion states: "That this House supports marriage equality, and calls on the Commonwealth Parliament to amend the Commonwealth Marriage Act 1961 to provide for marriage equality."
While the motion was presented, it was not debated and is still on the parliamentary agenda. If youwant to see marriage equality in Victoria, you need to speak up! Here are some ways to be heard:
