The plan for trams
The Greens have a plan for 12 low-cost tram extensions to link existing services through areas that have missed out on connected public transport.
You can read more about the plan here.
Bring back the connies!
Greg Barber MLC is working to bring back Melbourne's tram conductors on certain lines.
The research is in and bringing back the connies would reduce fare evasion, be low cost and, of course, allow for more personal service - including having someone available to help people on and off the tram, buy tickets and find their stop.

Disability access
Greg Barber MLC has been advocating for new trams to meet federal disability standards, as information gained through Freedom of Information requests in September showed that 50 new trams destined for Melbourne didn't meet the requirements for unassisted boarding - leaving people in wheelchairs to rely on the kindness of strangers to get on and off a tram!
Port Phillip Council, where Greens Councillor John Middleton represents locals, has enabled many Disability Discrimination Act-compliant tram stops to be constructed in cooperation with Yarra Trams.
Help trams move faster!
Greg Barber understands that sitting (or standing!) on a tram that is going nowhere is frustrating. Experts say that tram traffic light prioritisation is a simple and effective way to speed up trams and get more services for passengers.

"We Won't Stand For It" - the fight to reduce overcrowding on our trams and trains.
Greg Barber has taken the fight for better public transport into the technology age, with an app to record real time data from people's journeys on Melbourne's public transport.
You can join in the campaign and help us to gather real information about what is happening on our trams and trains.
Greg uses this real time data to support his push for more frequent services and changes to routes.
Information on crowding on trams
Greg Barber MLC used the Freedom of Information Act to obtain Yarra Trams six-monthly report on overcrowding. You can read the reports here.
New tram link to reduce congestion and fill gap - Port Phillip Council - Greens Councillor John Middleton
John Middleton, as part of the Port Phillip City Council, is advocating for the Park Street (SouthMelbourne) Tram Link which would allow Yarra Trams to divert a St Kilda Road route from the congested Swanston Street corridor to the under-supplied Docklands.
