Research Budget cuts “false economy”: Bandt

The government’s failure to rule out science Budget cuts in the upcoming MYEFO is of great concern, Greens Deputy Leader Adam Bandt said today.
 
“I share the concerns of researchers and universities about the impact of a pause or freeze on research funding,” Mr Bandt said today.

Government agencies including VicForests, the EPA, Linking Melbourne Authority and Southern Rural Water will be called before a parliamentary inquiry, if a motion by the Greens succeeds in state parliament this Wednesday.
"I'd like to ask the supposedly commercial agency VicForests why it should continue to exist if it can't make a profit destroying publicly owned native forests," said Victorian Greens Leader Greg Barber.

The Greens are continuing the call for a ban on live exports.

The Greens are continuing the call for a ban on live exports.
"The Greens and many others in the community have opposed the live export trade for years," Sue Pennicuik, Victorian Greens spokesperson for animal welfare said in support of the BAN LIVE EXPORT rally being held in Melbourne and other states across Australia, this Saturday 6 October.
