Research Budget cuts “false economy”: Bandt

 

The government’s failure to rule out science Budget cuts in the upcoming MYEFO is of great concern, Greens Deputy Leader Adam Bandt said today.
 
“I share the concerns of researchers and universities about the impact of a pause or freeze on research funding,” Mr Bandt said today.

Government agencies including VicForests, the EPA, Linking Melbourne Authority and Southern Rural Water will be called before a parliamentary inquiry, if a motion by the Greens succeeds in state parliament this Wednesday.
"I'd like to ask the supposedly commercial agency VicForests why it should continue to exist if it can't make a profit destroying publicly owned native forests," said Victorian Greens Leader Greg Barber.
