Greens support rally against TAFE cuts

Greens MPs Sue Pennicuik and Colleen Hartland will attend the emergency rally at 12pm in Treasury Gardens tomorrow in support of TAFE staff and students, in response to last week's secret cabinet documents.
"Secret cabinet documents revealed to the ABC last week, reveal the true impact of the Baillieu Government's devastating $300 million TAFE cuts. There will be campus closures, job losses, more courses cut and further increases to fees for students if these cuts are allowed to proceed,” Greens spokesperson for Education," Ms Pennicuik said.

About Dr Alison Parkes

Dr Alison Parkes is a long time resident of the City of Melbourne, living in North Melbourne with her husband and two teenage daughters. A senior academic in the Department of Accounting at the University of Melbourne, Dr Parkes holds a PhD in Business Information Systems from the University.

Dr Parkes has over 30 years experience in accounting and financial management roles and has held senior positions in both the private and public sector, spanning management accounting, audit, and financial systems design and implementation.  Dr Parkes also has considerable Not for Profit sector financial governance experience gained through pro bono and volunteer roles. She is an internationally recognised consultant, educator and researcher in the field of accounting information systems and co-authors a best-selling Australian textbook in this area.
